Oh, I guess I could add a few details for those who are interested. We are at the edge of the mandatory evacuation area. I don't know the exact elevation of our house, but we are not in the 100 year flood plain, and are in the area of minimal risk for our general area. In other words, as the evactuation zones are by zip code, I think our house is in the safest part of the zip code--so I think the evacuation is for other parts of our zip code.
For my family, I do believe that our old house is NOT in a good area, and could likely see flooding if the storm surge is as bad as predicted. As far as I know everyone in our immediate area has left, but I do know some people in Friendswood who stuck around.
That's all for now. We'll be keeping an eye on its path, of course...

Looks like the Clear Lake area got pretty hammered. It's a good thing you got out of there. Hope your home survives without damage.
