Long time...

Wow. I hadn't realized it had been quite so long since I posted...

And I'm not going to promise a lot more at the moment, because we are in the throes of baseball season, which fills up a lot of time. But as we get pictures and news from that, I'll try to at least make some posts. Plus we have some school programs coming up. And we're trying to get Jessie signed up again for a gymnastics class.

The first grade classes are all working on plays of Peter Rabbit. In Brennan's class, he got the role of Peter, so he is working hard on that. The same day as that performance (during school), is the third grade music program.

I was asked to give a talk on Sunday. It was neglected to mention that I was speaking in between a special musical number solo of "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and a talk by one of the counselors in the Stake Presidency. But at least the counselor in the Stake Presidency was Weldon Reeves, so I think that made it a little less intimidating.

My talk was centered on a talk from April Conference 2004 by Elder Bruce C. Hafen, entitled "The Atonement: All for All" I highly recommend this talk. I am still trying to learn how to better apply it to my life.

For that matter, I have been reading many conference talks over the past few months. It has been an eye-opening experience for me. I have gained a new appreciation for the prophets, apostles and other general authorities. I would like to share one thought from my talk. Or paraphrase it, really. I am trying to change my attitude from one of admiring the apostles, but thinking of them as different from "normal" people, to one of trying to emulate them. Though there are only twelve of them, there is no reason we cannot all try to be as worthy of such a calling as they are. I know I have a long, long way to go.

Nice to hear from you again! And you're right...it wouldn't hurt any of us to try to be more like the apostles.

I find the conference talks especially comforting since these past few months of great political change. Thanks for sharing!

I'm going to have to read that talk, I have had a lot of thoughts similar to that idea. Our leaders are real people and not perfect, AND they are admirable. So are you.:)
