A Sad Day

Just a quick note.

It turns out they had the Student Council Election yesterday, and Jessie did not win. She felt that her speech went well, though, and we're happy with how well she handled her defeat, and proud of her for entering the campaign in the first place.

Our baseball season is now also over. The Phillies struggled in the first inning, scoring no runs and giving up four. After that, it was actually an even game, as in the end we lost, 8 - 4. Brennan did get a hit and scored one of the runs, and he was able to make a few good plays--including another force out at second and a running catch on a foul pop. He also nearly threw out one of the fastest players in the league, and had another throw to first go off of the batter's helmet. The game did have a bit of a scary ending, as one of our players hit an extremely hard grounder that went off the pitcher's shin (actually, either the pitcher or his twin brother is the one Brennan almost threw out) before being fielded and the out made at first, and the pitcher was down for several minutes, but in the end he was fine. Brennan also handled the disappointing end to the season well, and we're very proud of how hard he has worked to improve and be a team leader.

Izak and Emily can commiserate with Brennen-- their soccer teams struggled this year with losing records. Sometimes I think they can learn more from defeat than from always winning everything. Good for them for all their efforts!!!

Good job to both Brennan and Jessie for dealing well with disappointments!
